Tasks:
Set-up Call Recorder Quarto/Octo with Analog (PSTN) trunk PBX.
Installation and Setup of Recorder:
1. Install Recorder:
- Install physically in rack
- Plug in now, or after Lines are plugged in.
2. Set-up Lines to Each trunk
- Set each Telco Trunk (PSTN) connection to each IN jack
- Set PBX Trunk connect to each OUT jack
3. Set-up recorder analog lines:
Note: Analog telco trunks use the Line setting, and analog audio inputs use the Audio setting
- Settings (key on recorder)
- SYSTEM --> NEXT --> Install Line 1
- MENU (to configure line):
- - Input source: Line
(If not already Line, click CHANGE to change to Line.)
- - Press 1 (the current Line) to view the Start method
- - Start Method: Off-Hook
- - NEXT
- - Off-Hook Level: Low (because the voltage drops when a telephone is lifted)
- - NEXT
- - Rings to Answer: Off (leave Off)
- - NEXT
- - Auto Gain Control: On
- - NEXT
- - Compression: On
- - NEXT
- - Notifications: Off (Enable to play beep or this-call-is-being-recorded message)
- - NEXT
- - Caller ID: On
- - BACK (to return the upper menu)
Repeat the instructions for the other 2-4, or 2-8 lines.
- - When done, STOP to return to the normal operation of the recorder
4. Set-up the recorder Auto delete time, Password, and Clock settings:
a. Auto Delete:
- Settings --> NEXT (continue till you get to Auto Delete)
- Auto Delete: 365 days
- - Click the Change button to change, and you can enter a number between 1 and 400 on the keypad
- NEXT
b. Password:
- Password: Off (defaults to Off)
- Press CHANGE (to change from Off to a password)
- New Password: <enter the pass code on keypad>
- STORE
- Repeat Password: <enter the same pass code again on keypad>
- STORE
- NEXT
c. Clock Setting:
- Clock: Day 01-02-03 01:02
- CHANGE
Notes:
- Use the arrow keys to move back and forth (the blinking character) on the date and time components
- Use the keypad keys to set the date and time, use 1 for Sunday for the Day of week
- STORE (to save)
- STOP (to exit)
5. Setup Ethernet:
a. Enter Network settings:
Hold Settings and LAN keys to enter the Network settings menu
b. Enable Network:
- Network active: No
- CHANGE (to enable)
- NEXT
c. Enable FTP:
Notes:
- Use the arrow keys to move back and forth (the blinking character) on the FTP user and password characters
- Use the keypad keys to alpha-numeric characters
- After the user name and password, the FTP port number can also be altered if required.
- FTP active: no
- CHANGE (to enable)
- NEXT
- FTP user: 0000
- - use the arrows and keypad as per above
- STORE (to save)
- NEXT
- FTP password: 0000
- - use the arrows and keypad as per above
- STORE (to save)
- NEXT
- STOP
- NEXT
- FTP server port: 21
- NEXT
d. Using DHCP or Static IP:
Notes:
- If you have access to the DHCP server, it is generally preferred to add a "reservation" using the recorders MAC address
- This enables the IP used by the recorder to be managed at the DHCP server, if not feasible, set to a static IP instead.
- Use DHCP server: No
- CHANGE (to enable)
- STORE
- STOP
If leaving DHCP server disable, instead perform:
- Use DHCP server: No
- NEXT (to leave disabled)
- IP address: 0:0:0:0
- CHANGE
- - use the arrows and keypad as per above
- STORE

- IP Mask: 255.255.255.000
- NEXT (unless network is not a /24)
- Gateway: 0:0:0:0
- CHANGE
- - use the arrows and keypad as per above

- NEXT
e. NTP Server
- NEXT (until you get to NTP Server port)
- NTP Server port: 123
- NEXT (unless you need to change port for your DHCP server that also sets time)
- GMT correction: 00:00
- - use the arrows and keypad as per above (-15:00 to + 15:00 values are possible in half hour increments)
- STORE
- STOP
